SHANNON REED PORTRAIT

Camera vs. Camera Phone

Shannon Reed

Camera!

Listen, I tried to do the whole camera phone thing, but let's be honest. No.

I did quite a bit of research before landing on the Fujifilm X-T10 and I really couldn't be happier. It's small and lightweight, but it packs a solid punch and I would have no problem using this camera professionally.  In fact, I may just start taking it as my second camera for weddings because it's so damn nimble and it shoots like a dream in low light.

I shot my new baby with my Canon 5D Mark III and luscious Zeiss 50mm f/2.0 Makro-Planar ZE Macro Lens using available light; honestly, there are fewer setups that sweet.  Although, I have to say my Zeiss Telephoto 85mm f/1.4 ZE Planar T* is the favorite child in my bag as I'm still getting used to the finicky 50.

I quit using my Canon L-Series lenses as soon as I saw how incredible Zeiss glass is; that being said, these are manual focus lenses which means little room for error and the need for that being nimble thing I mentioned earlier. I also have the Zeiss 28mm f/2.0 Distagon T* Lens  and I love it, too. The combination of these three lenses enables me to do what I need to do for weddings, portraiture, street, and fine art -  I really can't say enough good things about them.

Ok - so back to the Fujifilm X-T10...  I just took a few shots with it as I'm packing and getting ready to head down south tomorrow for the Camino del Norte a Chimayo. So much to do, so little time...  ")
