So excited and thrilled to have had one of my pieces from the Womankind series
selected for this exhibit at Terri Bell's gallery!
"is this how i look?"
August 19 - September 4, 2011
In tbellphotgraphic's current group show "is this how i look?" photographers were asked to transcend the surface and capture an "extra fleeting something" about their subjects or themselves through a medium that more and more is defined by social media snapshots than an exploration of introspective moments. I was surprised at how well the participants took the theme to task with 135 engaging portraits of varied subjects submitted from across the U.S. and beyond. As I reviewed the entries, little by little I found these emotional images working their way into my consciousness to form a personal narrative of how we look at ourselves and our closest friends through the lens. That we were able to decide on 25 images by 25 artists was a testament to the quality of the submissions, but without question a few strong works fell outside the emerging storyline and just didn't support making the whole greater than the sum of the individual parts. And the final exhibition, very ably curated by Terri Bell in an intimate space, does indeed tell an intimate story about how we look when looked at thoughtfully.
