I didn't take this picture, but I did pick one of these up at the flea market today.
The No. 1A Autographic Kodak Junior Camera (film size - 116)
was on the market from 1914 to 1927 and cost $24.
It's probably beyond the point of functioning, but it made me feel so happy when I picked it up. I wonder who the first owner was and what they took pictures of. Cameras are such a personal extension of who we are. With our eyes, we see everything - whether we want to or not. With a camera - especially a film camera - what we see, we see with great care and deliberation. And compassion.
I feel like I've found a long, lost friend...
